If you're running a small or medium sized business you can probably see the value in putting together engaging, good looking content quickly and easily for your digital signs. We've researched all the different options and collected a list of our favourite choices.
TLDR: Our top pick is Wepik, it's free, has great templates and works really well.
You likely don't want to spend hours creating content it and you might not be the best at graphic design either, so tools that can get you up and running quickly are really powerful.
Templates are really powerful, you don't want to be creating tons of content from scratch, that's too time consuming.
So I've tested lots of cloud-based graphic design tools and ruled out all those that aren't geared towards digital signage. For example, a lot of them are geared towards helping to create social media posts, and while there is a lot of overlap it's not the best for digital signage content.
What's left is a list of a few great options to chose from and for convenience I've listed out a few of their benefits together with their cost. Why not pick your favourite one of these to compliment your digital signage solution.
Top Choices
Canva
Canva has thousands of templates for almost every use case, whether you're putting up a thank you message for your colleagues or designing a new juice bar menu, it'll have a relevant template.
Cost: $12.99 USD per month
PosterMyWall
This is a great option, it has tons of templates with first class support for digital signage. The editor works well and it's easy to customise designs.
Cost: $9.95 USD per month
Creatopy
Its primary use case is for ad design, but this overlaps with a lot of digital signage needs. It has a lot of poster content, depending on your use case it might be extremely valuable or it might be next to useless. It's at the pricey end so give it careful consideration.
Cost: $32 USD per month (basic plan)
Wepik (our top pick)
This one almost seems too good to be true. It's full of great content, the editor is really easy to use and you can also change the primary colours quickly and easily on any template which makes it super quick to create branded content. And most of all, it's free, with one caveat. You must credit "Designed by Wepik" somewhere on your design.
Cost: Free!
Edit.org
At first it looks like this is geared towards social media content, but it does have dedicated templates for digital signage, you just have to scroll down a fair way to find the category. And it really does have a large amount of templates to choose from, so this might be a good solution for you. The software works really well.
Cost: $9.99 USD per month
Easil
This is geared towards the more medium to larger sized business as it has a focus on creating branded content, i.e. it locks a lot of the customisation options down. But it has some good template options and the editor works well. At the pricey end, but if you're a slightly larger business and being on brand is up there at the top of your priorities then give this some consideration.
Cost: $59 USD per month (edge plan, which includes templates)
Figma + Upwork
If you want to really stand out and have a design that matches your brand perfectly (which you can't get from template tools), here's a different suggestion. You could find a freelance graphic designer on Upwork by posting a job ad. I would recommend you find a designer that can build your artwork in Figma, its a free and easy to learn tool, which will allow you to make your own content modifications.
