You’re probably already considering a digital menu, which has several benefits. While initially, it might seem expensive with the cost of the digital panel, this is a cost that would be replacing a blackboard, which could be of similar cost, and require more effort to maintain.
Digital menus have more utility than traditional menus, previously you’d have breakfast, lunch and dinner menus to put out on each table, and a specials menu that would need updating. With a digital menu, as it’s available online, and timely, a customer viewing the menu on their phone would get the most timely menu. As you can set it in a schedule, you can set it and forget it if you have menus that don’t frequently change. This also means if a customer with a disability wants to see the specials board, they can do so without leaving the table.
Another fantastic use of digital menus is being able to immediately inform users when products aren’t available. Either remove or strike out menu items when they run out, which will improve customer satisfaction as they won't be disappointed if a product runs out.
You also might want to promote a product if you have too much stock, where you could make the item more prominent, drawing more attention to a product you want to sell.
Your venue might be used for multiple purposes, where you serve food during the day, and open a dance-floor in the evening. In this case you can switch from a food menu to a drinks menu, or play a video when there isn’t a need to display. If your venue has quiz nights, you could use the display to show the questions.
