We've had reports of video playback not working on Fire OS, i.e. FireSticks and the Fire TV, we suspect a recent Fire OS update to be the cause. Images and other content types are unaffected, it is only video that displays as a blank screen.
We have a few options to consider.
1 ) The first is to upload your video to YouTube and use our YouTube integration to play the video instead.
2 ) Instead of using the Luna Screens app, you can run our app in the Amazon Silk Browser, via this method videos still seem to be supported. Open up the Amazon Silk Browser, navigate to player.lunascreens.com and follow the on screen pairing instructions, then use your screen as you would normally. To hide the toolbar, move your cursor to the bottom of the screen and it will hide. (Note: if you delete your other screen before pairing the new browser one it will use account credit and you won't be charged)
3 ) Request a refund for any unused time remaining on your account and search for other signage CMS options, there are others out there that work differently to our method and may be unaffected by this issue so you might find a solution that works.
4 ) Last option is to consider switching to an alternate Android signage stick.
We've investigated it and from everything we can tell videos are playing correctly but they are showing up as a blank screen on the Fire OS hardware. We've created a ticket with Amazon in respect to the issue but we don't know how long it will take to resolve.
Going forward we're going to drop support for Fire OS 7 and below, it's unfortunately too unpredictable to support, this isn't the first time Amazon have rolled out a breaking change. We'll support Fire OS 8 and above as it's a modern version of Android and less susceptible to breaking changes. We'll consider adding support back for Fire OS 7 once Amazon have issued a fix.
